Akai 4000DS reel-to-reel (spares or repair) *

Classic 70s Akai 4000DS reel-to-reel player for sale. Generally, quite tidy but sold as spares or repair as it has a few issues. It plays back okay, but does not record. The heads are quite clean, so perhaps the recording head is out of alignement or needs replacing. Some of the lettering has rubbed off. One of the spindles seems to be rotating out-of-true as the plastic spool I put on to test it seemed to rub the faceplate on each rotation. One of the VU meters has a cracked screen, the other does not seem to work. There are a couple of small dings to the cabinet, which I trust the photos show. It can be used both vertically or horizontally, although you will need reel retainers in the vertical position. Hence, this machine may well prove to be a good source of spares, or perhaps someone is skilled enough to refurbish. Priced accordingly. Well worth it for spares alone! The photos should give clear indication of condition. Collection only from Brixham, south Devon. These have been sitting unused for a couple of years in my bedroom. The speakers themselves have not been used much a all, less than 50 hours and never tested to their limits. In a beech wood colour with awesome Kevlar speaker cones. The bass these produce is really good. They have bi-wire conections on the back, so you can run the tweeter and bass drivers off different amplifiers with the appropriate filters. The Amplifier is in excellent condition here are the specifications A1 amplifier Dimensions (H x W x D): H: 90 mm W: 430 mm D: 300 mm Input Impedance: 47K ohms Loudspeaker Impedance: 4 to 8 Ohms Power Output: 25 watts into 8 Ohms Frequency Response: 10Hz – 60 kHz @
